How to make Very Good Meatloaf
Meatloaf is very simple and very good. Anyone of any skill can create a great loaf. First, you will need to gather and prep all the ingredients needed for the recipe. Next, preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Place all of the ingredients, except for the ketchup, in a large mixing. Wash your hands, then use them to mix everything together. You can try using a large spoon, but the only way to really do it is with your hands.
Next, shape your meat mixture into a loaf shape and tuck it into a high walled baking dish or large loaf pan. Now decorate the top of your loaf with a layer of ketchup. Tell your loaf you love it and put it in the oven 40-45 minutes, or until the internal temp reads 165 degrees on an instant read thermometer.
Remove the loaf, let it rest, then slice it up and serve it with veggies and mashed potatoes. Or if you’d really like to impress your guests, serve it up alongside some Potatoes Au Gratin.
Meatloaf’s Golden Ratio
There are a lot of meatloaf recipes out there and many of them are pretty good, but the best ones follow a simple ratio:
For every 1 pound of ground meat, you need 1/2 cup of bread crumbs, and 1 egg.
After that, its just adding the seasonings you like. You can go absolutely wild with all sorts of loafs, building them sweet, spicy, or savory. I personally like this recipe and enjoy listening to Meatloaf (the band) while I eat it.
