This alcoholic Victorian era winter warmer has stood the test of time and keeps everyone from Buffalo, NY to the Upper Mid-west cozy all throughout the Holiday Season. Mix up a batch of this rich Tom and Jerry batter and invite your friends over, because Tom and Jerry's are best while shared.
Separate your eggs, placing the whites and yolks in separate mixing bowls.
Using an electric mixer or whisk, beat the egg whites until they form stiff peaks (8-9 minutes depending on temperature and whisk speed). Once stiff, slowly add the confectioners sugar to the egg whites while still mixing. Set aside.
Slowly whisk the egg yolks until they become thin and watery. Add one ounce each of Brandy and Dark Rum to the yolks. Also add the Vanilla, Cinnamon, Baking Soda, and a dash of Nutmeg to the yolks and mix thoroughly.
Fold the egg yolk mixture into the egg white mixture until fully combined. This batter can be used immediately or stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
To make the drink
Boil several quarts of water. Rinse a coffee mug with boiling water to heat it.
Add a heaping Tablespoon (or two) of batter to the rinsed mug, then add an ounce of Dark Rum and an ounce of Brandy. Slowly add boiling water to the mug until the batter floats to the top but does not overflow the mug.
